NY/NJ Chapter Hosts Final Concert of Anniversary Year

Concert will take place on May 14, 2013

The next ALS NY/NJ Chapter event (and last for this season) will take place on Tuesday, May 14, at 7:30pm at the Yamaha Piano Salon*, 689 Fifth Avenue, 3rd floor. The chapter will host the Valkov-Kostov Duo, winners of the 2011 Liszt-Garrison International Piano Competition (Collaborative Category).

Viktor Valkov, pianist, is also the first-prize winner of the 2012 New Orleans International Piano Competition.

The program will include:
Claude Debussy: Sonata for Cello and Piano (1915)
Nadia Boulanger: Three Pieces for Cello and Piano (1915)
Francis Poulenc: Sonata for Cello and Piano, Op. 143
Franz Liszt: Transcription of Richard Wagner's "Isolde's Liebestod" for solo piano
Maurice Ravel: Piece en forme de Habanera for Cello and Piano (1907)
Manuel de Falla: Suite Populaire Espagnole for Cello and Piano (1926)
Gaspar Cassado: Requiebros for Cello and Piano (1934)
Franz Liszt: Kostov-Valkov's transcription of Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 for Cello and Piano
